This is the second among the methods of solving quadratic equations.
Here, the requirement is to determine what should be added to a quadratic
expression to make it a perfect square.
Example1
If x2 + 6x, is a quadratic expression, determine what should be
added to the expression to make it a perfect square.
Solution
To make a quadratic expression x2 + 6x, the middle term is 6x and the square of half of 6 must be added.
Half of 6 = 1 /2
x 6 = 3
Square of 3 is 32
(ie 3 x 3) = 9
Thus, 9 must be added to the expression x2 + 6x to make it a perfect square. If this is done, we have x2 + 6x + 9 as the perfect square of the quadratic expression
This approach is cool. But I wish you can make a video of it to make understanding easier.
