Ratio: Question 5 – Rationing limited investment fund

Ahmadu has a sum of $45,000 which he plans to invest in companies X-Ltd, Y-Ltd and Z-Ltd in the ratio 1:3:2 respectively. Determine how much he invests in each of the companies.
Solution 
Investment amount = $45,000
Ratio of investment  = 1:3:2
Total ratio                  = 6
Investment in X-Ltd    = (1/6) * $45,000
                                      = $7,500
Investment in Y-Ltd    = (3/6) * $45,000
                                      = $22,500
Investment in Z-Ltd    = (2/6) * $45,000
                                       = $15,000
